Horse-chestnut (lat. Aesculus hippocastanum.) – a species of flowering plant in the soapberry and lychee family Sapindaceae. It is native to the South Balkan peninsula, the mountains in Northern Greece and Southern Bulgaria up to 1000-200 m above the sea level. Horse Chestnut is a large tree, growing to about 25-30 metres tall with a domed crown of stout branches. It can be found in the territory of the Old and New Boulevards.
