Taxus baccata (lat. Taxus baccata) – a plant species in the conifer family. In accordance with the IUCN Red List its category and criteria is defined as Vulnerable (VU). It is a rare and relict species of Azerbaijan. It is native throughout Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Northern Africa, Turkey, Asia Minor, Baltic countries, Ukraine, Scandinavia, Western Europe and the Azore Islands. It is naturally spread in the Shamakhi, Guba, Zakatala, Gabala, Khanlar, Lankaran and Lerik districts of Azerbaijan. It is a small to medium-sized evergreen tree, growing 20 metres tall; it has thick branches and it has a round shape at the top.
